Cities of Strangers: Trans-cultural 中国人 Cinema
A cinema course with a focus on genres contributing to the popular imagination about cities such as Beijing, 上海, 香港, 和台北. Examples will be drawn from martial arts films, gangster films, ghost stories, and "exile" films. Major theoretical concerns are cultural stereotyping, politics of representation, and the appropriation of gender discourses.

A study of the three major indigenous philosophical movements in China: Confucianism, 道教, and neo-Confucianism. Special attention will be paid to themes and problems common to all three movements, including: the metaphysics of harmony and conflict, the individual and society, the cultivation of human virtues and human perfectibility, and humankind's relation to nature.
中国人 Civilization
A topical approach to the study of traditional 中国人 thought systems, with readings drawn mainly from original sources in translation. Topics included are 中国人 language, myth and legend, historical records, ancient 中国人 poetry, 哲学, and traditional 中国人 science.
Readings in Contemporary 中国人 Cinema
This course provides a focused study of ten well-known films produced within recent decades by filmmakers from Mainland China and Taiwan. 的 films explore both urban and rural life, covering a wide range of topics such as education, 家庭, 革命, modernization, 和性别. Students will discuss, in both written and spoken 中国人, a variety of social topics central to studies of China. 的y will also complete an independent project and learn to appreciate films as historical and artistic constructs.

Delve into the theory and practice of both Form and Compass School fengshui while analyzing the proposition that fengshui is a type of “folk” ecology.
中国人 Religions: Unity and Diversity
探索s 中国人 religion through a study of its formative texts and historical evolution.
